Guy Lafleur undergoes lung surgery
- At the request of Guy Lafleur’s family, the Montreal Canadiens released an update on his health status today.
“Guy Lafleur underwent surgery at the Centre Hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM) on November 28. This procedure was performed in order to remove a lobe on one of his lungs, as well as to remove ganglions.
The operation was successful. Guy Lafleur will remain under observation at the hospital, and is expected to return home in the coming days to continue his recovery.
The family wishes to thank the entire medical team, as well as the personnel at the CHUM, and will not issue any further comment.“
- The 68-year-old underwent quadruple bypass heart surgery in September.
- Lafleur is the Canadiens’ all-time points and assists leader, and he ranks second in franchise history in career goals.
- The Hockey Hall of Famer won the Stanley Cup five times with Montreal in the 1970s.
