  • Benn scored the game-winning goal and had six shots in Thursday’s 5-3 win over the Jets.
  • Benn broke a 3-3 deadlock with 4:21 left in regulation, picking up his fifth goal of the year.
  • After an ice-cold start to the season, Benn has four goals and seven points over his last four games and has scored the game-winner in each of the last three.
  • Jamie Benn now has 3 consecutive games with the game winning goal.
  • The days disappear, the opponents change, but the games keep turning into wins for the Stars.
  • The Stars extended their point-streak to 10 games on Thursday night by beating the Jets, 5-3, at the American Airlines Center, and Dallas has not lost a game in regulation since Oct. 26, nearly a month of dominance in Victory Green.
  • Jamie Benn scored the game-winning goal with 4:21 left in the third period, breaking a 3-3 tie and putting the Stars up for good.
  • It was Benn’s fifth of the season and his fourth in the last three games.
  • Benn has scored the game-winning goal for the Stars in each of the last three games.
  • Benn made the game-clinching play in the third period almost single-handedly.
  • He stripped Patrik Laine at the blue line, banked it off boards to himself, collected it as he drove the net and then tucked a backhand past Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck.
  • It was a sequence that has become frequently more common for the Stars captain, who endured a 15-game goalless drought earlier in the season.
  • It was also one that atoned for an earlier turnover that led to a Winnipeg goal.

“I wasn’t having a very good game, if we’re being honest,” Benn said. “Even started that shift with a turnover, but I was thinking about it after they scored and my dad taught me a pretty good lesson in baseball. You go 0 for 3, you’re bummed, but you have another chance to go up to the plate and you could be a hero.

“So I kind of went out after they scored for that shift and figured this is my chance to make a difference. That’s what I tried to do. I came off, sat down, thought of my dad, had a little chuckle there and kept on going with the game. It’s funny the things your parents can teach you in life. That’s one of them.”
