Dubas explained why he’s disappointed in himself that things didn’t work out with Babcock
- Wednesday, the Toronto Maple Leafs made a franchise-altering move by firing Mike Babcock after four season with the team and replacing him with former Marlies head coach Sheldon Keefe.
- The decision came on the heels of a 6-game losing streak, tied for the longest such streak in Babcock’s tenure with the team, and it wasn’t a shocking decision by any stretch of the imagination based on how the Leafs have opened the season.
- Thursday, Kyle Dubas spoke to the media for the first time since the decision was made and he expressed his disappointment in himself that things didn’t work out, which ultimately led to the Babcock being fired.
“I’m disappointed in myself and only myself that it didn’t work out.”
- Dubas also gave an incredible vote of confidence to Keefe, saying he’s seen his ability to maximize the capabilities of each player in his previous coaching stops.
“Regardless of what the players are being paid, I’ve watched Sheldon and [seen] his ability to absolutely maximize the capabilities of each player” – Kyle Dubas on Sheldon Keefe
